It’s been a truly insightful and memorable experience assisting Amy Hume for a five-day Linklater Voice Intensive with a bunch of great industry professionals. Amy is one of only a handful of Designated Linklater Teachers in Australia, having trained in New York under Kristin Linklater herself. After taking Amy’s voice courses at the Hub in 2018,
she kindly offered to let me assist on this workshop–how could I say no?
I learned a lot from Amy’s teaching style and engagement with the actors in the room, and her in-depth knowledge of the voice and Linklater voice work is remarkable. She’s also hard working and a fantastic mentor in the field. She’s a busy bee, so keep an eye out for Amy’s great work on stage and on screen, or you may hear her voice on ABC Local Radio.
UPDATE Oct 2019: Amy is currently dialect coach on the stage musical Billy Elliot, currently in Sydney before touring around Australia. She’s also worked on projects for ABC/Netflix, and is co-director for the VASTA 2020 conference to be held in Sydney next July. Great work Amy!
